Emot Wedding Photography describes shift in couples wedding planning trends

Emot Wedding Photography and Videography (formerly EMOTION Wedding Photography) conducted a survey on the Australian wedding industry, with a focus on wedding photography to learn how Covid-19 has affected consumer confidence and spending habits. This survey was sent to their database of thousands of engaged couples. This was modeled off a previous survey conducted in November 2020 to compare results and determine how the industry has changed. Click here to see the results of the survey.

The survey provides a good insight into the current consumer trends in relation to wedding planning. For example, the survey tried to measure the impact of COVID-19 on the priorities of engaged couples. One big difference between the 2020 survey and the new one is today’s couples more greatly value flexibility in managing dates.

Michael Warshall

“Some important points concluded from the survey include that; 46% of respondents valued date flexibility when booking a wedding photographer, a 13% increase from the survey conducted in November 2020, the most common budget for a wedding photographer remained in the $1000-$3000 bracket, and the fear of “what if I have to cancel my wedding” has increased from 23% to 47.75% from November 2020 to September 2021,” says Michael Warshall, Emot co-founder and master photographer.

Around 80% of respondents are happy to book their wedding photography online from a trusted national brand in both September 2021 and November 2020.

Vittorio Natoli

“This survey has provided us with great insight into how couples are booking weddings,” says Vittorio Natoli, co-founder, Emot, and past president of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography “It is very clear from these results that things have changed from when I started in this business over 30 years ago. Couples value flexibility, affordability, transparency along with quality of imagery. Emot has positioned itself to meet these new needs, and as consumer confidence returns, we are optimistic we will see the wedding industry bounce back stronger than ever.”

Emot Wedding Photography and Videography have already begun to innovate to meet the new needs and wants of engaged couples within Australia.
